Training
Generation have invested over recent years to develop a purposed dedicated training centre for the provision of work at height and access equipment training. Currently accredited by; CISRS, CSkills Awards, NOCN, PASMA, IPAF, The Ladder Association, NPORS and Ascentis, the facilities offer training for new entrants to the construction industry as well as those with many years of experience. Our centre provides both apprenticeship places, as well as commercial candidates progressing right through to Advanced Scaffolder and Scaffolding Manager. Further support is available for qualified scaffolders in the form of the new 2-day CPD course and additional training on system scaffolding covering our own products; Genlok and Altrad Futuro. The facilities include 2,000m2 of practical area allowing up to 4 CISRS courses at any one time. This combined with an extensive stock of regularly renewed equipment means that there is a short waiting list for training and candidates will benefit from courses using up to date, state of the art products. The training team includes instructors who are Advanced Scaffolders with many years industry experience, an apprenticeship officer having worked for the CITB for many years and our Training Manager currently sits on the training committees for CISRS/ASITO, PASMA and The Ladder Association. All of this ensures that our training products are fit for purpose and up to date with both legislative and industry current guidance and requirements.
Training is available for Site Managers and Supervisors through the Site Safety Plus CSkills Awards SMSTS & SSSTS courses, which form part of the mandatory requirements for UK construction sites. Both courses are supported with refresher schemes which includes all of the CITB course notes and materials within the price of training and provides useful recourses candidates can later refer to. We also provide the 1-day site operative basic health & safety training for new entrants and the site environmental awareness course (SEATS). All of these approved courses are stipulated by many principle contractors and major clients as a prerequisite when accepting tenders for projects.
Generation have been supplying Aluminium Mobile Access Towers since the inception in the 1970’s, Training on the safe assembly and use soon followed with PASMA approval being granted in the early 2000’s. Over the years we have trained thousands of Tower users and more recently with the development of additional modules such as Low Level Platforms, Towers on Stairways and further advanced configurations, we continue to support our customers in the use or prefabricated access platforms with courses running on a weekly basis nationally through out network of branches.
Supplementing the aluminium access training, for customers also utilising our range of Ladder & Step Ladder products and powered access equipment, Generation offer approved courses from The Ladder Association and the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). Outfitting our training centre with all the required equipment and offering an onsite training service, we are available to provide courses where and when our customers need them. In addition to training on the safe use/operation of this apparatus, we also provide approved inspection and management courses. We have a national coverage of approved instructors, all with industry knowledge and experience available 7 days a week to meet the needs of site work.
Since 2011 Generation have been an approved plant training provider under NPORS, offering courses on fork lift truck, crane operator, slinger/banksman, fire marshal and many more with all the required equipment installed in our centre. Furthermore, through our team of qualified approved instructors we are able to offer further onsite courses on many categories of machinery and plant.

This is linked with working closely with our awarding bodies and other industry organisations such as the CITB.
